Margaret H. Burns, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO at the age of 75. She was born on March 13, 1944 in Joplin, MO to James Alfred and Margaret Anne (deBeughem) Burns. Margaret was a longtime resident of Lockwood, MO. She retired from teaching English at Lockwood High School. Margaret also taught Drama and Debate. She touched numerous generations of students in Lockwood. Margaret was a devoted teacher. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Greenfield and the Missouri Teacher’s Association. Survivors include one brother, Joe Burns and wife Connie of Anderson, MO; two sisters, Mary Anne Neil and husband Dennis of Carthage, MO and Cathy Scroggin and husband Michael of Decatur, AR; daughter of her heart, Ruth Belcher and husband Randy of Lockwood, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and numerous special close friends. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
