Elizabeth Kelly Ballard, age 88, formerly of Paris, departed this life on Friday, August 9, 2019, in Athens, Ohio, where she was currently residing. She was born on January 22, 1931, in Falmouth, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Louis and Nannie Weaver Elvove. She was a graduate of Paris High School, had obtained her degree at Midway College as a Registered Nurse, and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital as well as volunteering at Bourbon County Hospital. She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church in Paris. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bland Ballard, II, two grandchildren, Jimmy Phelps and Sarah Seitz, as well a brother, Charles E. Kelly. Surviving are her three children, Bland Ballard, III, Linda Brookins (Calvin), and Beth Phelps (James); as well as her grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Ballard, Bland Ballard IV, Josh Phelps, Joseph Warren, Dwayne Hamilton, Danny Woodson, Scott Sutherland, and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Marilyn Crouch (William G.), Nancy West (Oties, Jr.), Joseph Elvove (Rosemarie), Louis J. Elvove, Rebecca Smith, Regina Elvove, Rose Marie Thomas, and Marjorie Lager (Alan). The memorial service for Elizabeth Kelly Ballard will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. A private inurnment will follow at a later date.
