Andrew Michael Hurst

Andrew Michael Hurst, 46, of Redfield passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, August 13th at Panther Creek Cemetery, rural Redfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Andrew Hurst Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Andy or Edard as he was known to family and friends was born on May 13, 1973 to Dale Hurst and Karen Hollett in Des Moines, Iowa. Andy grew up in Redfield and graduated from Dexfield High School in January, 1991. He lived in Redfield the remainder of his life. He worked at Flying J Truck Stop, the Brickyard in Adel and was able to travel the country working for Mayflower Movers. He also assisted Cliff Putney mowing lawns in the area. Andy loved listening to a variety of music often changing from channel to channel. He enjoyed watching basketball games and could keep up with several games going at once. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale; and family friend, Debra Hurt. Andy leaves behind his children, Alex Hurst of Earlham and Rachel Hurst of Redfield; mother, Karen Hollett of Redfield; sister, Anita Hurst of Redfield; aunt and uncle, Steve and Chris Hurst of Boone; aunt, Marneta Rickard of Mathis, TX; aunts, Marilyn and Sandy Sill of Eagle Grove; niece, Lilah Yates of Adel; mother of Andy’s children, Lisa Overton of Earlham; four-legged friend, Barker and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Andy was my Brother's best friend. The two of them were a pain in Dave's big sister's hind end, but I loved them both very much. They got into more mischief than I would want to tell. My heart hurts for all who loved him. May God provide peace to his family!
