Darcy Gannon

Darcy Gannon, 70, of Kunkletown, passed away August 10, 2019, at home, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her friends and family. Darcy was born in East Stroudsburg, PA, on December 21, 1948, daughter of the late John Possinger, and Doris Possinger, currently residing at Pleasant Valley Manor. Darcy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Boyd G. Gannon, Sr., in 2016, a great granddaughter, Danica Michelle Eure (Gannon), in 2018, and a sister, Sandra Leiser in 2011. She will be deeply missed by her son; Boyd G. Gannon, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline Gannon, of Kunkletown, PA; her daughter, Gretchen Gannon Pettit, of Kunkletown, PA, and her grandchildren: Brandin Pettit and his wife, Jaclyn, of College Park, Maryland, Sara (Gannon) and her husband Jonathan A. Warner, of Goldsboro, NC, Elizabeth Gannon, Stroudsburg, PA, Michael Pettit, Kunkletown, PA, Michele Gannon, Stroudsburg, PA, and William Pettit, of Kunkletown, PA, and great grandchildren: Jonathan Adam Warner and Kitty Louise Warner, both of Goldsboro, N.C., Madison Pettit, of College Park, Maryland, and Maria Varis Pettit, of Kunkletown, PA., and her sisters Patti Hay and her husband John of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Jennifer Decker and her husband Donald of Stroudsburg, PA. Darcy graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, and from Capella University with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She retired from East Stroudsburg University Operations at Enrollment Services, after twenty-two years of service. Darcy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She grew up with a love for horses and was an avid horse woman. She had been an owner and breeder of American Quarter Horses for more than five decades. She and her husband owned and managed Mountain View Farm in Kunkletown. She was always a very active woman and an advocate for her community. She was a member of the Eldred Township in many roles, such as Administrative Assistant, Eldred Planning Commission secretary, and participated in Marketing/Public Relations/Grant Research, and Thrift Shop Coordinator. She was an original member of the Monroe County Open Space Advisory Board, which developed the 2001 open space plan, and a volunteer with the Monroe County 4H, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Darcy authored a book titled “My silent partner” dedicated to her husband, love and life partner of 50 years Boyd Gannon, Sr. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert with Pastor Brenda Hobson officiating. Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on August 13, 2019 from 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home. Darcy ashes will be interred, and placed next to her great granddaughter, Danica Michelle, at St. Matthew UCC Cemetery in Kunkletown, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Loving Memory of Darcy L. Gannon to the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center, 8050 Running Valley Rd., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
