Mr. Melvin O. Keenan “Squirrel” Warrenville, SC – Entered into rest on August 1, 2010, Mr. Melvin O. “Squirrel” Keenan, 74, of Warrenville, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Bertha Woods Keenan and brothers, Marvin Keenan and Gene Ray Keenan. Born in Windsor, SC and a lifelong area resident, he retired from Daniel’s Construction. He was an Iron Worker with the Iron Workers Local #709, Savannah, GA and a member of Breezy Hill Baptist Church. Melvin enjoyed riding his Harley Trike, playing cards and horses. Family members include his companion and best friend, Betty Barrett, Warrenville, SC; children, Terry Keenan, Langley, SC, Tammy Keenan, (Fred Patton) Bath, SC, Lisa Keenan James, (John) Graniteville, SC, Donald Keenan, Langley, SC, Donna Simpson, (Patrick) Graniteville, SC, Joey Keenan, Langley, SC and Kevin Keenan, (Monica) Graniteville, SC; step daughter, Ora Clark, Warrenville, SC; siblings, Margaret Odom, (Herbert) Warrenville, SC , M.D. Keenan, (Katheryn) Langley, SC, , Peggy Hicks, (Steve) Langley, SC, Magdeline Widener, (Goldie) Langley, SC, Marylee Opalewski, (Daryl) Clearwater, SC; step brothers, James Wood and Harold Wood, Windsor, SC; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, August 4th, 2010, at 11 o’clock in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eric Keenan officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Patton, Tony Smith, Tony Moxley, Ricky Manley, Free Cantrell and Michael Lowe. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis “Too Tall” Jones, Herb Barnes and Ernest Cato. If so desired, memorials in memory of Melvin may be made to the American Heart Association. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. No. 1, Langley, SC.
