Swannanoa Cynthia Lynn Cindy McDonald, 57, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at her home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a Registered Nurse at the Black Mountain Center for the past 9 years and was a long time member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. She was a 1976 graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School, received her AAS Degree in Nursing from Blue Ridge Community College, was a member of Montreat Scottish Pipes & Drums and had played the Bag Pipes since she was 16 years old. She was a lover of all music. Cindy was a daughter of the late Wallace Clay McDonald and Audrey Lee Moore McDonald. Surviving are her son, Jake Penland of Asheville; step daughter, Nikki Penland of Clearwater, FL; step grandchildren, Dani Penland and Justin Banks both of Mars Hill; sisters, Sandy Smith and husband Jim of Asheville and Tammy Church and husband Tom of Black Mountain; brother, Marty McDonald of Barnardsville and nephews, Jason and John. A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Beverly Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services.
