Carolyn A. Hallin

Formerly of Joliet, passed away at her residence in Iowa City, Iowa. Sunday, November 11, 2018. At 85 years, just one day shy of 86. Survived by her four children Stephen, Andrew, Gustav (Jennifer) and Ellen (Melinda) Hallin. Nine grandchildren Kirsten, Karl, Kurt, Kate, Emma, Lindsay, Kyle, Alex and Emma, one great-granddaughter Evie. Preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Hallin (2002 and her sister Janice M. Picher (2007). Carolyn was born November 12, 1932 in Joliet to Gustav and Ellen Bloomquist. She graduated from Augustana College with her degree in Education and from Lewis University with her Master’s degree. Carolyn proudly taught 4th and 5th Grade at Eisenhower Academy for many years and previously taught at Culbertson and Cunningham Elementary Schools. Member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Lying in state at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton Street, Friday, November 16th from 10:00 A.M. until services at 11:00 A.M. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials to TRAIL, a non-profit organization helping older adults to age in place, 28 South Clinton St., Room 201, Iowa City, IA or www.trailofjohnsoncounty.org/support will be appreciated.

I taught with Carolyn for many years at Eisenhower. She was always upbeat and a lot of fun! She would tell stories about you kids and laugh! Like the time the car broke down when you were going someplace and you just left it in the middle of the road! Love to you at this... Continue Reading
