Oneta "Opie" Pauline Holz Obituary

Oneta P. "Opie" Holz, 71, a longtime resident of the Banks community, died Friday afternoon, March 1, 2019 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rivers of Peace Church, 20475 N.W. Amberwood Drive, #120 in Hillsboro, with Pastor Darren Osburn, officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the church ceremony, to be held in the fellowship room. ONETA PAULINE HOLZ was born June 19, 1947 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clair "Austin" Bailey and Leota LaBell (Griffin) Bailey. She was raised and received her education in Austin, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Douglas Alan "Doug" Holz on January 16, 1982 in the United Methodist Church in Centralia, Washington. They celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary this past January. Following their marriage they have made their home in the Banks community. Opie had served as the accountant/bookkeeper for the family business, "Hoot Owl Logging Company" from 1982 to 2001. She was an active member of the Rivers of Peace Church in Hillsboro. Among her special interests, she enjoyed supporting church activities and caring for her animals. Opie also had a special love for spending time with her grandchildren. Opie was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Leota Bailey. Survivors include her husband, Doug Holz, of the family home in Banks, Oregon; her son, Dion Hanson, of Hastings, Minnesota; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Desiree and Thomas Getner, of Mulino, Oregon and Amber and Matthew Brown, of Banks, Oregon and her brother, Melvin Bailey, of Winona, Minnesota. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, Cress Hanson, Ridge Hanson, Drake Hanson, Joshua Getner, Britnie Getner, Samantha Stephens, Austin Holz, Jacob Holz, Christian Brown and Daniel Brown; her five great-grandchildren, Sophia Getner, Payton Getner, Kyle Stephens, Elijah Getner and Hunter Stephens and her niece and nephews, Melissa Bailey, Jim Bailey and John Bailey, all of Minnesota. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Rivers of Peace Church Youth Group, 20475 NW Amberwood Drive #120, Hillsboro, OR 97006, in her memory.
