Larry Leon Black Obituary

Larry Leon Black was born in Bakersfield, California on March 24, 1942 to parents Bill “Blackie” and Dorothy Black. He married Sheri (Vaughn) Black on December 29, 1989. Larry is survived by Sheri; daughters, Cammie and husband Mike Harmon, Carol and husband Chad Reichenbach, Gretta and husband Vince Payne; 2 step-sons, Jim Wiederrich and wife Lindsay, and Randy Wiederrich; grandchildren, Mikey Harmon, Kimmie Harmon, Justin Pettit and wife Corinne, Brandon Pettit and wife Gina, Derek Payne, Shon Payne and wife Kayla, and Bryanna Payne; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Caden, Trace, Wyatt, Luke, Hank, Cora, Gracie, Kendal and Rowan. Larry spent most of his free time fishing, he just loved it. He also enjoyed bowling, taxidermy and raising exotic birds. In addition to the pink fish he mounted, there are a number of funny stories about his color-blind confusion. Larry died in Bakersfield on March 1, 2019. A memorial service will be held March 6 beginning at 2:00p.m., at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter.
