Mary M. (Sullivan) Valle, age 95 of Swampscott died on Friday March 1, 2019 at the Bertram House. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Valle Sr. and the late William Homan. Born in Lynn, Mary was the daughter of the late James F. and Margaret (Laughlin) Sullivan. A lifelong resident of Swampscott, Mary was a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1942 and of the School of Practical Art in Boston, class of 1944. Mary was a Communicant of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Swampscott and a former member of Salem Country Club and then, after Joe Sr. passed, was a member of Tedesco Country Club. Mary had won numerous art awards from the Swampscott Arts Association, the Marblehead Arts Association, the International Miniature Arts Show, Marion Court, the 2015 Sargent Art Senior Living Showcase, and numerous other Arts Associations. Mary was an avid bridge player, especially in her later years with her friends Irene Butcher, Joan Cushman, and many others. She is survived by four daughters; Andrea Valle of Swampscott, Janet Rossman and her husband Jeffrey of Boxford, Diane Valle of Charlestown, and Susan Goldberg and her husband Larry of Swampscott, a son; Joseph Valle Jr. and his wife Michele of Swampscott, ten grandchildren; Susan Marie and her husband Jason, Matthew Rossman, James Rossman and his wife Annie Gallin, Daniel Rossman, Danielle Gilchrist and her husband Peter, Rachel Nissi and her husband Nordo, Benjamin Goldberg and his wife Robin Soule, Joseph Valle III, Lauren Valle, and William Valle, six great grandchildren; Max and Jane Amendolara, Cameron and Francesca Rossman, and Harrison and Max Nissi III. She was also the sister of the late Frederick Clark. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at the Bertram House for their compassion and care for Mary over the last 5 years of her life. Her Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 10:00AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. If desired, contributions in Marys name and memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Solimine Funeral Home.
