Ronald Gene Teerink Worthington, Minnesota Obituary

Ronald Gene Teerink

Ronald Gene Teerink, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his residence in Worthington, MN. Ron was born in Worthington, MN at the old Worthington Hospital on January 18, 1936 to the late Gerrit and Grace (Ketel) Teerink. Ron attended country school not far from his parent's farm home west of Bigelow. His family then moved to a farm north of Worthington where he continued his country school education. He later graduated from Worthington Senior High in 1953. After high school, Ron served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. On October 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Betty Eileen Weets at the old American Reformed Church on Clary and Grand in Worthington. Ron was a member of the American Reformed Church, upon profession of faith, for more than 60 years, where he served as Elder, Deacon, Youth Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. He cherished his Prayer Breakfast meetings with Irwin, Wally, and Don every Wednesday morning for more than twenty years. He worked for Heles Plumbing Supply in Sales and later worked for John Fauskee of Worthington Mechanical Contractors as Office Manager. After his retirement, Ron enjoyed helping out with mobile meals, Love Inc, hunting, fishing, smoking meat, reading, and spending time at their Ottertail cabin. He also used his excellent skills of craftsmanship in woodworking, from building furniture to the most delicate and intricate carvings. To Ron, the presence of his grandchildren brought him more joy than any simple hobby ever could. “An old man's grandchildren are his crowning glory” (Proverbs 17:6). Those left to cherish Ron's memory are: his loving wife, Betty, Worthington; son Mark, Kansas City, MO; son Jason, Worthington; son Dominick, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Maria, Worthington; daughter Charity, Worthington; and seven grandchildren: Destiny, Brianna, Lexi, Cameron, Emma, Keylee, and Felicity. He is also survived by: his sister Lois (Roy) Williams, Shakopee; brother Robert Teerink, Minneapolis; brother Merlin (Darlene) Teerink, Worthington; and sister-in-law Nancy Teerink, Worthington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Norman, and infant brother John. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at American Reformed Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 am, also at American Reformed Church. Private burial of cremains will be at a later date.
