Richard W. Finch, Jr.

Richard William Finch, Jr., 93, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. He was the husband of Doris Witt Finch for 72 years. He was preceded in death by his two children, Alan “Boo” Morris Finch, Gerald Wayne Finch, and his parents, Richard W. Finch, Sr. and Lila Davidson Finch. Dick was a US Army Air Force Veteran, having served in WW II; member of Purple Heart Association, Marshall Masonic Lodge #39 AF & AM, Kazim Shrine Temple, Lynchburg Shrine Club and Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church and was retired from US Postal Service. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Marie Finch; two grandchildren, Richard Alan Finch, Jennifer Turner; three great-grandchildren, Ben Finch, Ryan Finch and Samantha Turner. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Rev. Elizabeth Ecklund, with Masonic Rites and military honors, with burial to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Greenville, SC and Lynchburg Humane Society.
