Marty Dewayne Smith

Bristol, Va.  Marty Dewayne Smith, 61, passed on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Marty was born December 22, 1957 in Saltville, Va. to the late Albert and Ruth Smith. He was a graduate of R.B. Worthy High School, a U.S. Army Veteran, and an employee of Strongwell for over 20 years.  Marty enjoyed riding motorcycles, hockey, Disney World, helping others, and Christmas for which he prepared for by listening to Christmas music beginning in April.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Luther Smith; and sister, Patty Ann Smith.  Marty is survived by his wife of 43 years, Fay Kestner Smith; sons, Michael Smith and wife Kimberly, and Travis Smith; grandchildren, Cale Leigh and Joshua Smith, and honorary granddaughter, Halee Branch; sisters, Sue Smith, Gloria Jean Sauls and husband Paul, and Arminda Prater and husband Jim; brothers, David Smith, Jim Smith and wife Brenda, and Jeff Smith and wife Michelle; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Connie Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Ritchie officiating.  Interment will follow in Hiram-Henderson Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.  Those wishing to share memories and express sympathy online may do so by visiting <a href="http://www.farrisfuneralservice.com/">www.farrisfuneralservice.com</a>. The family of Marty Dewayne Smith is being cared for by Farris Funeral Service &amp; Crematory, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, (276) 623-2700.
