Bondsville - James E. Gustafson Sr., 68, died on February 28, 2019. Born April 4, 1950 in Palmer, MA, son of the late Edward L. and Marion E. Gustafson. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. James worked as a foreman for Zero Manufacturing in Monson for 42 years. He volunteered on the Bondsville Fire Department, from 1976-1989 retiring as 2nd Assistant Chief. He was an avid fisherman, race car enthusiast and most of all enjoyed fixing broken golf carts on the side. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Sheila (McCollom) Gustafson of Bondsville, three children, James E Gustafson, Jr. and wife Kristine, Scott Gustafson and wife Penny and Sherry Gustafson. He is also survived by 4 siblings, Bruce Gustafson (Melody), Pamela Estridge (Steven), Dorothy Gustafson (John) and Donna Brown (Stanley). He also leaves four grandchildren, Jacob and Cameron Gustafson, Destiny Flemming and Crista Zwolinski, five great grandchildren, Payton Marie, Jahqwaan, Jahmaar, Jahieem, Jermiah, mother in law, June McCollom, brother-in-law, Duane (Karen). Jim was predeceased by his father-in-law Fredrick McCollem., Jr. and sister- in- law Sharon Richer (Paul) as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his Mountain family. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 5 from 4:00-6:30 pm. followed by a closing prayer service at 6:30pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will take place Saturday, May 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
