Alma Estella Mixon, 88, of Harrah, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and a Godly, Christian example to many, left this life for her Eternal Reward in Heaven on February 28, 2019 in Midwest City. She was born January 20, 1931 to Riley Horton and Frances Renbarger Sutherland in Oklahoma City, OK. She moved with her family to the Harrah-Newalla area in 1965. Alma was always a very talented and creative person and attended both beauty college and art school. She worked as an assembler at Western Electric until her retirement. Alma enjoyed painting, working in her garden and playing the piano. She always ended up cooking most of the family Holiday meals and always cooked for the Jolly Elders group at First Baptist Church, Newalla, where she also taught Bible School.. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Sutherland, a sister Mary Hooker and a grandson Derek Mixon. Survivors include her husband Dale; two sons, Alan Mixon and wife Renee of Mustang and Tony Mixon and wife Mary of Yukon; a daughter Kathy Sparks and husband Jerry of Nicoma Park; two sisters, Elaine Baty of Mustang and Joyce Abbott of Oklahoma City; a brother, Leon Sutherland and wife June of Cashion; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Newalla, on Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Griff Henderson, Dr. David Nolan and Rev. Don Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah. The family will receive guests at Asa Smith Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Senior Adult Ministry, First Baptist Church Newalla, 20800 S.E. 59th, Newalla, OK 74857.
