Ms. Bernese Jones, age 71, passed on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at her residence. She was born on Sept. 8. 1947 in Fairfield County, S.C. to the late Nathaniel and Lucy Roseborough Jones Sr. Bernese was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1965 and was last employed as a seamstress at Salisbury Manufacturing. She was also a former member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Bernese loved sewing, drinking Maxwell House Coffee, sitting on the porch and watching her soap operas. She also loved people and her grandson, Harlem, because he was her motivation to get up everyday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Nathaniel Jones Jr and sister, Virginia Jones. Those left to cherish her memory include children, Steven M. Jones of Salisbury, Matthew Jones of Kentucky, Albert Jones and Lucy Jones, both of East Spencer; brothers and sisters, George Freemen of Kannapolis, Steven Jones and Margaret Jones, both of East Spencer, Evelyn Jones and Lucy J. Hovis, both of Spencer; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
