Dale G. Schneider, 92, of Perrysburg, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg. He was born September 14, 1926, in Toledo, to Lafe Harold and Nell I. (Cossairt) Schneider. Dale was a 1944 DeVilbiss High School graduate. He went on to join the U.S Air Force Cadet program and was sent to the University of West Virginia for officer and pilot training. Part way through that program, at the time when the wars in Japan and Europe were winding down, it was shut down and each was directed to select a tech school. Dale chose St. Louis as a radio operator. After the war, on advice from his dad to “get an education, but also learn to do something with your hands,” Dale went to Toledo University and majored in engineering at nights. He then married Betty, now his loving wife of nearly70 years. He became a tool & die maker and later started his own company, “Dalco Machinery.” Representing the top rated punch press company, Minster Machine Company, he was elected to the Minster “Limited Edition Club,” which was the highest recognition that could be given by the company. Dale said, “I think what I was always proud of is that Minster often would ask me who I worked for. My answer was always the same, both Minster and the customer. Minster always received a fair profit and my customer, I made sure, was not overcharged. As a result, Northwest Ohio had the largest concentration of Minster presses in the U.S. “ For many years Dale was a proud member of the Toledo Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellowship recipient. He was also a member of the Fort Industry Lodge #539 Free & Accepted Masons, a 43 year member of the Toledo Club, and a member of the Sylvania United Church of Christ. Dale was most proud of, and is survived by, his wife Betty (Konz) Schneider; sons, Dr. Brian M. (Sue) Schneider and Brent (Nancy) Schneider; grandsons, Lafe (Jenny) and Drake; granddaughters, Kiersten, Kelly (James), Erin (Ben)and Christine (Mark); seven great-grandchildren; and his son, Bob, whom preceded him in death. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Brenda Schneider, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lester and Mary Konz. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Jack, and a sister-in-law, Sue Schneider. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 3- 6 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio 43611. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Sam Buehrer will officiate. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, with military honors provided by the Northwood VFW Post 2984 Burial Corp.
