Lani- Kai Caldwell Obituary

Lani-Kai Caldwell was born on July 27, 1988, at St. Joseph Hospital, in Paterson, NJ, to Michael and Andrea Caldwell. She was the only child born of this union. Lani-Kai attended the Hydel Preparatory School in Jamaica, until her family migrated to the United States in 1996. Upon arrival in the United States, Lani-Kai resided with her parents in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and attended the Orchard Elementary School, George Washington Middle School, and her High School years were spent between Ridgewood and Elmwood Park NJ. During her early years, Lani-Kai excelled in Taekwondo, achieving the Black Belt, which is the highest rank possible. While attending Elementary and Middle School, Lani-Kai participated in track and field, and excelled in sprints and field events. She was awarded countless medals and certificates for all of her efforts, and elevated her status to an elite athlete during High School. She traveled to many States competing in track and field events. Lani-Kai also played Volley Ball while she wasnt participating in track and field. As a Freshman in High School, Lani-Kai achieved the status of Varsity Athlete, and met many famous and notable people. Lani-Kai always wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, which propelled her to study Criminal Justice at Rutgers University, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree. She was employed in the industry until her passing. Lani- Kai was an avid reader, knowledgeable in many subjects, whether it be national, international or current events. One of her favorite books was by the late great Mayou Angelou entitled "I hear my Angels Sing". She loved dogs and rescued many, and placed them in a warm and loving home. She was passionate in her beliefs, and never shied away from a challenge. Lani-Kai was full of life and would light up a room with her infectious smile. She loved to travel, and visited many continents, countries and islands. On January 10, 2019, the Lord realized that Lani-Kai could better serve Him in Glory, and called her home. She is survived by her loving parents Michael and Andrea Caldwell, Grandmother Magilin Buchanan, hosts of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace!
