Annie Ruth Thomas Hardison Jones, 95, died Thursday evening, December 10, 2015. A native of Greene County, she was born April 7, 1920, the daughter of George F. and Carrie Herring Thomas. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her first husband, William Maynard Hardison; and brother, George Malcolm Thomas. Annie Ruth grew up on a farm just outside of Snow Hill, surrounded by a loving extended family. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Snow Hill. She was also an avid gardener, both at her home and through membership in the Cardinal Garden Club of Snow Hill. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Sunday school teacher, and a friend to many in the community.Her surviving family includes her husband, Talton W. Jones; children, Allen Hardison and wife, Kim of New Bern and George Hardison and wife, Lynn of Rolesville; step-children, Martha Jones of Crossville, TN, Howard Jones of Johnson City, TN, Charles Jones and wife, Heida of Jonesborough, TN, and Alan Jones of Durham; grandchildren, Scott Hardison of Richmond, VA, and Jenna Hardison Fillipone and husband, Mike of Reston, VA; step-grandchildren, Colin Jones of Johnson City, TN and Hannah Jones of Seattle, WA; and a brother, James Adolph Thomas of Snow Hill. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 14, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with Reverend Mark Morris officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
