Martha Ann Parsons Deese, 70, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born October 26, 1948 in Troy, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Howard Parsons and Mary Lou Bateman Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William Duncan Parsons, Michael Eugene Parsons, William Price Parsons, and Barry Wayne Parsons. Martha was of the Methodist faith and was the owner/operator of Dazzles Hair and Nail Salon in Newton. She was a fantastic cook and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved her furbabies, and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband William (Stan) Deese, Sr. of the home; children: Angela Lynn Lamonds Hefner and husband David of Conover, NC, Elizabeth Elaine Deese Thomas of Newton, NC, William Stanley Deese, Jr. and wife Sharon of Angier, NC, Richard Craig Deese of High Point, NC, Charles Edward Deese of Archdale, NC; brothers: James Clayton Parsons and wife Barbara of Troy, NC, and Garry Lane Parsons of Troy, NC; a sister, Mary Ellen Parsons Kaifos and husband Angelo of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren: Samantha Danielle Chapman and husband Tru of Conover, NC, Lindsay Miranda Lail and husband Josh of Stony Point, NC, Sarah Marie Fogleman Woody and husband David of Maiden, NC, and Ashley Nicole Thomas Chapman of Newton, NC; great-grandchildren: Layla Marie Woody, Noah Allen Woody, Ava Nicole Stone, Christopher Elijah Holden, Aidan Jackson Holden, Brittany Marie Rodrigues, Abel Edward Dugger, Adaline Grace Dugger; a great-great grandson, Xander Tru Rodrigues-Ocampo; and many and much loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory with the Rev. Paul Christy officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jamie Parson, Chris Jones, Nathan Jones, Mario McCorkle, Joshua McCorkle, and Clayton Chisolm. Honorary pallbearers will be Angelo Kaifos,Tru Rodrigues and Junior McCorkle.
