TRADED IN HER WHEELS FOR WINGS
Karen Marie Blair, born to Aubrey and Bette Short on April 7, 1956, passed away peacefully in Tacoma, WA on December 12, 2018. Karen leaves behind her high school sweet heart of 43 years James Blair, two children and their spouses Kristen (Jon) Wells and Johnny (Karla) Blair, grand boys Blair and Ryder Wells and Dylan Blair, sister Topie (Steve) Griffin, brother Paul (Kathy) Short, brother Melvin Short, In laws Eileen (Lynn) Hickman, as well as many nieces and nephews. Karen’s life was filled with a love of gardening, racing, trips to Packwood, countless card games, rides on her motorcycle, karaoke nights (really, just listening to daughter Krissy sing her heart out), bringing people together, nurturing friendships, as well as caring for her family. She is lovingly described as a woman with style, a loyal friend, a party starter…and finisher, a force to be reckoned with, a keeper of the peace, and a hard worker; always ready to roll up her sleeves for family or friends in need. She was a dedicated manager for 33 years at Pacific Paper in Fife, WA. Shortly after her time at Pacific Paper ended, in March of 2013, it became clear that Karen was suffering from memory loss and was eventually diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, in May of 2015. The cause was said to have been from a head injury sustained at an unknown time in her life. She suffered gracefully until her body succumbed to disease. Although she will be sorely missed, her community of family and friends are grateful that her spirit is now in peace surrounded by her loved ones in the hereafter. We will be honoring Karen’s life on Friday January 11th,2019 with a Rosary (10:30 am) followed by a Funeral Mass (11:00 am) at Our Lady Queen of Heaven (14601 A ST S, Tacoma, WA 98444) as well as a celebration of life at The LeMay Family Collection, Marymount Event Center (5:00 pm) (325 152nd ST E, Tacoma, WA 98445). We welcome those that are inspired to send flowers to
have them sent to Our Lady Queen of Heaven on the day of services at approximately 10:00 am.
