Audrey B. Sieger

Audrey B. Sieger, age 94, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, in Harrisburg. Audrey was born on June 14, 1922 to the late Walter E. and Myrtle Irene (DeSpain) Beem in Hyannis, Nebraska. She grew up on their family ranch. After graduating college as a registered nurse, Audrey was commissioned in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant. In the Army, she served as a nurse on a troop transport ship bound for Japan and brought wounded soldiers home. She met her love and husband Samuel this way and they were married after World War II. She moved to Harrisburg area with Samuel and worked as a registered nurse at the Polyclinic Hospital as well as a private duty nurse. Her caring nature touched many lives. Mrs. Sieger was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Harrisburg. She enjoyed working with stained glass and gardening. She is survived by her son, Walter S. Sieger of Harrisburg and her daughter, Erica Sieger Wysocki of Chester Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katrina, Evan and Joellen and her great grandchild, Tanner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Sieger and her "sister" cousin, Jewell Beem Ferguson. Her funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 with Reverend Ryan Douglas Travis to serve as officiant. Friends may call on Wednesday prior to services from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. Burial will follow at the Shoops Cemetery in Harrisburg. In lieu of floral contributions, memorial donations in Audrey's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
