Tyrone Finney Obituary

TYRONE WILFORD FINNEY, son of the late Carey and Priscilla Drummond Finney, was born on January 28, 1951 in Accomack County, Virginia. He departed this life on May 14, 2015 at his home in Melfa, Virginia. Tyrone was preceded in death by his son, Tyrone T. Jones, three sisters, Bertie Mosley, Eva Giddens, and Elizabeth Drummond, and a brother, Carey Finney, Jr. Tyrone graduated from Mary N. Smith High School in 1970. He provided over 30 years of service for Boggs Water and Sewage, where he was a dedicated employee who rarely missed a day of work. You could always find “Pop” hard at work cutting his grass or trimming his hedges. He was a very kind and loving person. You could catch him sitting outside under his trees just waiting to tell a joke. He will be remembered for his famous deer soup and chicken and dumplings. Tyrone leaves to cherish fond memories: three daughters, Kesha Snead of Mardela Springs, MD, Alifsa (Pam) Jones of Melfa, VA, and Schaneen Lewis of Georgia; one son, Nekko Brown of Maryland; one step-son, Mayvon Jones of Salisbury, MD; thirteen grandchildren, two of whom he raised as his own, Kevaun and Keyonna Jones; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jase Jones; two sisters, Mabel Gaskins of Philadelphia, PA and Ethel Walker of Melfa, VA; two brothers, Harry (Honey) Finney and Lafayette Finney of Savageville, VA; a very special and dear friend of 42 years, Arline Jones; and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
