David Hill Peterson, 77, of Windsor, Colorado died unexpectedly Monday January 1, 2018. David leaves his wife of 54 years, Lynn (Poole) ; three children, Suzanne (Scott) Rose, Noel (John) Ries, and David (Laura) Peterson, Jr.; six grandchildren, Madelynn, Collin, Elizabeth, David, Tripp, Eliza and Bronwyn; four great grandchildren, Austin, Serenity, Cheyenne, and Brooklyn; and sister, Piper Peterson. Preceded in death by his parents Anne (Wells) and Frederick R. Peterson and brothers George and William Peterson. David was born January 14, 1940 in Trenton, NJ. 
 David graduated from Taft School in Watertown, CT in 1957, from Princeton University in 1961, and was also member of the Charter Club. He played hockey while attending Princeton. Following college, rather than going on to Cornell for Law School, he joined the U.S. Naval Aviation program as he had never flown in an airplane. He was an air craft carrier pilot aboard carriers; Saratoga, Forrestal, and the Lexington. Following the Navy he flew for Pan American World Airways until 1989 at which time he joined Delta Airlines. Captain Peterson retired from Delta Airlines in 1995 due to the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. Dave was an excellent golfer, an all round sports enthusiast, and a brilliant man with an unmatched sense of humor. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Windsor, CO.
