Wilma I. Bixler

Wilma I. Bixler, 88, of Miller Township, Perry County, went home to meet her Lord and Savior, surrounded by the comfort of her family, on Saturday evening, January 14, 2017. Born August 2, 1928, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Junkin) Kistler. She was the wife of Luther B. Bixler, prior to his passing on July 4, 1971. In her younger years, she worked at Olmstead Air Force Base, in Middletown. In addition to caring for, and raising her family, Wilma was an accomplished musician. She taught private piano lessons in her home, for many years, and, directed the choirs at Highland Presbyterian Church in Newport and Christ Lutheran Church in Duncannon. Wilma is survived by her sons, Thomas Bixler, and his wife, Darla, of Millerstown, Brian Bixler and Scott Bixler, of Miller Township, and, daughter, Wendy Johnson, and her husband, Steven, of Whippany, NJ; her sister, Donna Kistler, and, brother, Joseph Kistler, and his wife, Lillian, of Duncannon. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anna, Sarah, Samuel, Abigail, Jonathan and Matthew, and her great grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella, Thomas and Viven. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday January 19, 2017, at the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High Street, Duncannon. Interment will follow in Hill Church Cemetery, Watts Township. Friends may call on Thursday, prior to the service, from 11:00 A.M. to Noon. Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, 55 Howell Drive, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
