Dustin Gregory Hanson
Dustin Gregory Hanson, age 23 passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Sat. Oct 17, 2015 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Norwalk, CT on May 15, 1992.Dustin graduated from Newtown High School class of 2010.He served in the United States Navy as a Cryptological Technician Technical on board the USS Cowpens CG-63.He aided in the Humanitarian Relief Efforts in the Philippines after a devastating typhoon in 2013. Dustin is survived by his parents Shari (Fumo) and Gregory Hanson & brother Dylan Hanson of Sandy Hook.He is also survived by his Aunt/God mother Sheila Gombos,cousin Tiffany Gombos of Norwalk, CT, cousin Travis Gombos & wife Ana of Burlington, MA, Godfather Vinnie Caruso of Santa Maria, CA, Uncle Roy Hanson & wife Barbara of East Haven, CT, Uncle Guy Hanson & wife Marietta of Norwalk, CT. He was predeceased by his Grandparents Elizabeth & Frank Fumo, Nancy Hanson Mills & John Hanson, & Uncle Dale Hanson. Dustin was a huge New York Yankee fan. His favorite player was Derek Jeter. He loved playing baseball & riding dirt bikes. He will be remem bered as a giving young man, who became an organ donor & has saved additional lives.He loved to make people laugh & his endless smile brightened up everyone's day. We were very proud of him serving our great country.He will be incredibly missed by all. Rest in peace our beauty, our sailor. We love you yo!! A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Oct. 24th at 3pm at the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Rd in Sandy Hook, CT. Military honors will follow.
