Royce "Smitty" Smith Age 81 of Owosso passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held 5:30pm Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Fortitude with Reverend Ray Strawser opening with a prayer, following with a dinner honoring Royce. Royce "Smitty" was born June 8, 1937 in Frankfort, Michigan. He proudly served in the United States Army. Royce worked over 10 years at Globe-Union Battery Plant, later renamed Johnson Controls. He also worked at Tri-Mer until he retired. Smitty enjoyed many years fishing, playing shuffleboard and bowling. He was a long time member of the Eagles. Smitty is survived by his daughter Rachael (Chris) Connely of Okemos; sister Suxanne Lindsey of Ozark, Arkansas; his significant other of 40 years Margot "Peggy" Mooney and her grandchildren Amanda (Josh) Sanburn and David Burns. He is predeceased by his parents; sister Maureen Latunski and brother Roger Smith.
