Howard Kenneth Miles, 79, passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 11, 2018, at his home. Kenny was born in his family home in Moss Point, MS on October 3, 1939 to Rufus and Emma Grace Miles. Family was always important for the Miles’. He and his 6 siblings grew up in Moss Point where they had many adventures roaming the neighborhood, and they knew the time to hurry home was when the street lights came on. As a young man he loved basketball, softball, fishing, boating, hunting and all sports in general, but he found his true love of sports as a father coaching his children’s teams. Kenny spent five years at International Paper Company before devoting 35 years to a career at Ingalls Shipbuilding, retiring in 2003. He always considered himself privileged to serve so many different defense and shipbuilding programs at Ingalls. Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Diana Miles; his children Tim (Gail) Miles of Gautier, MS, Terri Miles of Gulfport, MS, David (Bridget) Vaughn, of Decatur, GA, Denisa Marshall of Coppell, TX, and Katie Miles of Pascagoula, MS. The joys of his life were his grandchildren, TJ (Haley) Miles, Emily (Jeffrey) Register, John Marshall, Jackson Vaughn, Matthew Vaughn, and Mary Katherine Vaughn. He is also survived by his siblings, Winifred Nichols, Fred (Sue Ann) Miles, Frances (Earl) Gautier, and Jimmy (Adell) Miles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Rufus Leander Jr, Rodney Miles, and Bill Miles. The Visitation for Kenny will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Escatawpa Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Morse officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS.
