Darlaine Terpening, 87, of Jerseyville died on Saturday Jan. 28, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville. Born near Eldred on July 5, 1929 she was the daughter of the late James Goldar and Thelma Marie (Taylor) Hires. She married Billie Terpening on March 6, 1948 ( 68 wonderful years) and he survives. Also surviving are a son: Bob (wife Becky) Terpening, Karen (friend Mark) Kirchner, Cindy (husband Steve) Rosentreter, grandchildren: James Terpening, Katie (husband Cory) Garner, Ashley (husband Stephen) Kiesel, Phil (wife Alicia) Terpening, Chad (wife Deidre) Kirchner, Tammy (husband Brett) Berry, Shasta (husband Mike) Komes and Joel (wife Marissa) Rosentreter, 9 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, a sister Laverne Stringer. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Rob Terpening, 2 brothers: Pete and Jess Hires, and 2 sisters: Elaine Holmes and Claudia Schmidt, and son-in-law Albert “Sonny” Kirchner. Darlaine loved being a farm wife, especially driving a tractor at night (you can go faster). She loved bowling, dancing, doing word search puzzles, and was an awesome cook and loved baking. She especially loved her grand, great and great,great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 31 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
