Nicole Marie Novak, 23, of Madison Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 20. Born in Scranton, Nicole was the daughter of Michael Novak of Madison Twp. and Laurie O’Hara of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Elizabeth Novak, of Moscow; as well as her maternal grandparents, Patrick and Joan O’Hara, of Scranton. Surviving are her three beloved sisters, Melissa Novak and fiancé, Alec, of Scranton; Courtney Kerrigan and fiancé, Edward, of Scranton; and Victoria Fotia of Scranton. Nicole also leaves behind numerous heartbroken aunts, uncles and cousins. Nicole, a 2013 graduate of North Pocono High School, had a kind heart and a contagious smile that could light up any room. Quick with a joke, she loved to make everyone around her laugh, something her family will miss deeply. She loved all animals, but had a special bond with her cat Sephora. Artistic by nature, Nicole could often be found “crafting something from nothing” as her family liked to say. She had a beautiful voice and it was a special treat when she’d give an impromptu performance for her family and friends. Her melodious vocals will forever be missed. Nicole was passionate about hair and makeup and aspired to be a cosmetologist. She was most recently employed by Buona Pizza in Scranton, where true to her nature, she made many new friends. She loved tattoos and was always planning her next one. Nicole will forever be cherished as our most beloved and beautiful daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services LLC, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Church St. in Moscow. Friends and family are asked to go directly to church the morning of the service.
