Jerome V. Antonelli

Jerome Vincent Antonelli, 91, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home in East Haven, CT. Carol, his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, was by his side.  Born on November 2, 1926 to Silvio and Mary DeNegre Antonelli, "Jerry" grew up in the Annex section of New Haven. He played football with the East Shore Sand Lot Gridiron League and coached baseball for Annex Little League. Jerome attended Hillhouse High School and joined the US Navy. He served in World War II and achieved the rank of Aviation Ordnanceman, Third Class. Jerome began his career as a structural designer in the late 1950s, with Federal Paperboard. He worked for Seagrams, and then as a designer with Warner Rexham Packaging until his retirement.  He also worked part time for Sears and as Director of Design and Innovation at Specialized Packaging Inc. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and a member of the Annex Young Mens Assoc. Jeromes family was his pride and joy and he kept detailed records of his familys ancestry. He was an accomplished painter, loved woodworking, golf, bocce and bowling. Jerome was preceded in death by his father Silvio, his mother Mary (DeNegre), his brothers Fred, Francis, and Joseph, his sister Lucy Antonelli, and his two nephews Joseph, Jr. and Christopher Antonelli. Jerome is survived by his spouse Carol (Gaynor), his children, Christine (Joe Crocamo) Antonelli of Solana Beach, CA; Mary "Missy" (Jim) DiGianni of East Haven; Karen (Edward) DAgostino of Chester; Robert Antonelli of Branford; Donna Antonelli of Hot Springs, AR; John (Candice) Antonelli of Washington D.C.; Diane (Javier Rivera) Antonelli of Solana Beach, CA; his brother Anthony (Sandra) Antonelli of Wallingford; his grandchildren Casey, Michael, and Cameron Crocamo; Corbin and Hayley DiGianni; Anna, Alex, and Mia DAgostino; Jenna Fazio, Luca and Natalie Antonelli; Jack, Ethan, and Finn Roche; Bianca Rivera, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven FRIDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call on THURSDAY from 4pm to 8pm.
