Asa Haul Haddock, Jr.

Asa H. Haddock, Jr. March 13, 1929 - October 20, 2018 Hookerton-Asa H. Haddock Jr., 89, of Hookerton, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Asa was born March 13, 1929 in Greene County to the late Asa Haul Haddock, Sr. and Smithie Cannon Haddock. Asa’s wife of 63 years, Edna Jones Haddock, preceded him in death on July 3, 2014. Asa proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later retired from Exide Electronics after many years of dedicated service. Following his retirement from Exide Electronics, Asa worked several years as a Traffic Controls Engineer with the state of North Carolina. Asa was independent to the core. Knowledgeable and one who didn’t mind letting you know where he stood, Asa loved talking politics and economics. He was fascinated with music theory and liked computer programming. Asa loved the country life and being out on the farm. He and Edna loved traveling to Kittrell to spend time on the family property. Asa’s son, Bill has many fond memories of watching football games with his dad. He loved riding around the countryside checking out the crops and seeing economic progress. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 1-2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange. A graveside service will then follow at Fairview Cemetery. Asa is survived by two children, Bobbie Haddock Baltos and William Haul “Bill” Haddock and wife, Cathy;; five grandchildren, Jason Haddock Baltos, Jesse Halley Baltos, Sylvester Charles Baltos, Asa Carroll Haddock and wife, Lindsey, Jenna Lauren Haddock; one great-grandchild, Emma Jeanne Haddock; and a sister, Maggie Haddock Lewis.
