Frances “June” Heaton, 98 of Dixon, passed away October 1, 2018, at CGH Hospital surrounded by her family. June was born on the family farm in Oregon on June 22, 1920 to Fred and Presis (Keith) Cox. She lived for many years in Phoenix and Washington State, but her heart always remained in IL. In 1989, June returned to Illinois and married and old friend, Glenn Heaton, he preceded her in death. She was active in the Moose Lodge #727 for many years and loved her family in Washington and her extended family in Illinois. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Carol (Bob) Kinison of Sterling; step-daughter, Sharon (Jack) Dempsey of Dixon; sister Barbara Palmer of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Pattie Mereness of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Shane Wilhelm, Paul Wilhelm, Robert Kinison, Cynthia Messina, Cindy Day, Jeff Cledon, Greg Heaton, Bill Heaton, Dennis Dempsey, Lynn Miller, and Daniel Dempsey; and numerous great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Fred Howard; second husband, Charles Mason; step-son, Jerry Heaton; daughter-in-law; Lois Heaton, son-in-law; Jack Dempsey; and grandchild Sandra Kinison. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Burial will be at Grand Detour Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
