Joyce Juanita McDermott

Mrs. Joyce Juanita McDermott, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away quietly in her home on September 9, 2018 at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late Thomas Edwin McDermott, Jr. Born on October 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Harry Rockford and Evelyn Vera Mills. She is survived by her children: Donna Sue Herbert, Sharon Marie Burgess, Thomas Wayne McDermott, and Richard Edward McDermott; seven grandchildren: Michelle Umberger, Kymberly Wood, Bryan Matthew McDermott, Nicole Lynn Umberger, Joseph McDermott, James McDermott and Robert Edward Herbert and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara Ann Houston, Evelyn Carol O'Toole and Kathryn Marie Beach. She was preceded in death by her brothers Eugene Rockford Mills, Robert Harry Mills and Michael Anthony Mills. Joyce will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Joyce attended Montgomery Blair High School. She worked for SuperFresh Grocery Stores for over 30 years. She volunteered at Wheaton Woods Elementary school as a lunch time aide. Relatives and friends will be received at PUMPHREYS COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., (Rt. 28 just off I-270), Rockville, MD on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 3-5 pm where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyces name may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.

God bless you, so many years have gone by however always in our heart. I remember coming to Maryland when we where growing up from Florida and swimming in the above ground pool. Great memories, so glad we had the parents we did to have the memories we have
