Willard E. Lawrence

Willard E. Lawrence, Passed away December 10, 2015 age 98 years. Beloved husband of the late Lorayne. Loving father of Vicki (Chris) Barton, Barbara (Tim) Columbia, Joni (Jim) Wilger, Willard Jr. (Nancy Hyland Lewis) and Mark (Diadema). Cherished grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 12. Dear brother of Anne (Dennis) Harris. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Willard proudly served in WWII with the Army Air Force and was a decorated with a bronze star. He was a member of an elite military team of a handful of meteorologists that studied the weather patterns to determine the best day for the D Day Invasion. He was a professor at Marquette University from 1953 until he retired in 1987. He received the National Science Foundation fellow 1961-1962 and was a member of the Mathematical Association and Wisconsin Geological Society. Visitation Friday, December 18, from 10:00 - 11:00AM at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7474 Harwood Ave., Wauwatosa, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. Entombment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.
