Iris Pauline Holt, 71, of Danville, Va., went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Sovah Health Danville, following a decline in health since 2007. She was born September 23, 1946, in Danville to the late Annie Pauline Lynch Holt and the late Thomas Lee Holt. Iris loved and was named after the beautiful Iris flowers. She worked as a beautician all of her life and drove a bus for Pittsylvania County Schools for 35 years. Iris was a seamstress, who made her own clothes, and she enjoyed needle point, stamping, and word search puzzles. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Danville Women’s Bowling Assoc. Hall of Fame. Iris was a member of the Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her brothers, Norman Holt and Bobby Holt (Carlene), both of Reidsville, N.C., Jimmy Holt (Janice) of Danville, and Noel Holt (Susie) of Ringgold, Va.; her nephews, Robert Holt, Jamie Holt, and Thomas Holt; her nieces, Carla Holt, Paula Holt, Janet Durham, and Erica Cole; as well as numerous cousins, and two special friends, Jeanette Goodson and Bobby McGuire. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Swansonville P.H. Church, 16300 Mt. Cross Road, Dry Fork, Va., with Pastor Mike Hearp officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. at the church prior to the service Saturday, June 16, 2018, and at other times at 421 Yates Farm Road, Ringgold, VA 24586.
