Betty Arline Althouse Obituary

Betty Arline Althouse, 100, of Pennsburg, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024. She was the widow of Stanley Y. Althouse. Born in Quakertown, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Verna (Kirkpatrick) Treffinger. Betty was employed for many years at the former Pennsburg Pants Factory. She was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ where she had been active in the Ladies’ Aid, the Kitchen Committee, and was a former member of Consistory. She was a past president of the auxiliary of the American Legion, Post # 184, Palm where she and her friend Jean Kahler were the cooks for many years. Earlier in life, she was an avid bowler and bowled in several National Bowling tournaments. She volunteered over 3000 hours at Grand View Hospital and was a volunteer with the Nurse Agency in Pennsburg that offered childhood immunizations for many years. She also volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program in the Upper Perkiomen Valley where she was a route coordinator. She was well known in the area for her sewing. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and doing Word Search puzzles.


Surviving are brothers: Floyd Treffinger, of Pennsburg, Edward Treffinger, of East Greenville, and David Treffinger, and his wife, Dyana, of Green Cove Springs, FL; god-daughters: Sandra, wife of Brandon Bastuba, of Charlotte, NC, Kristen, wife of Preston Ferguson, of Pottstown, and Wendy Adam, of Pennsburg; adopted family members, Frank & Donna Falk; and many nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by her children, Patricia, and Perry; and siblings: Marie Heimbach and Kenneth, Richard, and Donald Treffinger.


All are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 10-11 AM, followed by a service at 11 AM at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Tohickon Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
