Darren Chism

ASHMORE – Darren Chism, 56, of Ashmore, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 as a result of an automobile accident.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  His graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston, with Scott Sims officiating.  Memorials may be directed to the family for an education fund for his daughter, Rosslyn, in care of David Holste.

Darren was born August 31, 1967 at Charleston, son of Judith Marie (Lanman) and Wayne Chism.  He is survived by his pride and joy, daughter, Rosslyn Chism of Charleston, significant other, Nikki Carver of Charleston, father, Wayne Chism of Ashmore, sister, Mindy Holste and husband David of Dieterich, nieces, Jeannie Schabbing and husband Mark of Dieterich and Kayla Holste of San Francisco, CA, and nephew, Jackson Holste of Dieterich, three great-nephews, Myles, Henry, and Russ, as well as several aunt, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Darren was a gifted wood worker, and was good with his hands.  He could fix anything, especially mowers, motorcycles, and cars.  Darren had a huge heart, and absolutely doted on his daughter, Rosslyn, and he never met a stranger.
