David B. Pollak Obituary

David B. Pollak, 69, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Thursday March 28, 2024 at home.


Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 22,1955, he was the son of the late Edward S. and Beverly Cernevich Pollak.


David received his elementary education at St. Casimir’s, and was a 1973 graduate of Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam.


David retired from General Electric Company in 1994 after 22 years, working as a machinist on Big Motors, Gas and Steam Turbines.


David was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, He was also a member of the American Legion Post 337 and the V.F.W. Post 8690 in Broadalbin, NY.


On September 27, 1980, David was united in marriage to Joan Gorman Pollak. Joan predeceased David on February 25, 2010, He was also predeceased by his daughter, Kristy Pollak on October 1, 2000 and his brother, Edward R. Pollak.


David is survived by his brother, Gary Pollak, his longtime companion, Cara Dopp and her children, Caressa Loria and Chrystie Peters and Cara’s grandchildren, Alexis and Lillyana Rodriguez. Nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law also survive.


Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY, with Fr Juanito Asprec as celebrant


There are no calling hours.


The Rite of Committal will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY
