Donna Mae Lowry passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on March 22, 2024, at the age of 71 years. She is survived by her loving sons, Ken (Tara) and Alastair (Jamie); her grandchildren, Caveena, Calyssa, Alexander, Isolde, Trinity, and Korbyn; and her stepfather, Dennis McGuire. Donna is also survived by the last of her two sisters, Patricia Shepherd; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Donna was predeceased by her mother, Lillian McGuire; father, Earl Lowry; sister, Jean Bizot (Jerry); and brother-in-law, Carl Shepherd.

I remember as a girl whenever I scraped my knee or had a bad day, my Nana would always tell me, "Come on girl, you've got to cowboy up." She was never one to dwell on the negatives and she never let something bad go to her heart. Instead, she reached out and made friends wherever she went, whether it be walking around a farmers' market or waiting in line at a grocery store. I think we should all consolidate in each other's grief because no one should ever have to think about losing their grandparent, mother, daughter, sister, or best friend. Nana always made sacrifices to show how deeply she cared and loved the ones around her. She would even save up her money for months to be able to buy all her grandchildren Christmas and birthday presents just to see us smile. She was an extraordinary and loving person whose presence made any room brighter, and she always had the best stories about her life and gave the best advice. My Nana was always the person I'd talk to about movies and books, or even about my day, and I can't help but think that I've lost one of my favourite people on this earth. She will be missed by everyone, always.
