Obituary
Mary Jean (Jean) Drysdale
January 15, 1936 – March 22, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Drysdale on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 88. Mother of Susan (Joe) Lucas and Barb (Kevin Burgess) Drysdale. Grandmother of Joseph Lucas, Nichole (Bradley) Tenny, Megan and Kiera Burgess, and Great Grandmother (“GG”) of Ethan and Austin Tenny. Predeceased by husband Ken Drysdale, brother Don Edington, sisters-in law Marjory Edington and Kathleen (Les) Berry, brother-in-law Les Earl, nephews Alan Berry, Kim Skewes, Michael Earl and nieces Jeannie and Pat Earl.
She is also survived by brother Bob (Betty) Edington, sisters-in-law Sandy Edington, Sheila Earl and Patricia (Herbert) Skewes and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Jean will long be remembered by friends and family for her kindness, generosity and warm personality. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought tremendous meaning and joy to her life—and she was quick to share a story or two with those who crossed her path.
Born and raised on a farm, Jean continued the family tradition by working on the Hamilton and Dundas Farmers’ Markets for many years both with her father and then the Eden family. At age 60, she became a florist and spent the last 10 years of her career making beautiful flower arrangements and building strong relationships with her customers and co-workers. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
If desired, a donation to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Jean’s honour would be appreciated. (Donations can be made online or via etransfer at sapcancaster@gmail.com.)
A funeral service will be held for Jean at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 31 Sulphur Springs Road, Ancaster on Friday, May 3,
