<p>James Alvin Buchanan, age 91 of Forest City, North Carolina, died Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Rutherford Regional Hospital in Rutherfordton. Alvin was born on September 1, 1932, in Augusta, Georgia, and was a son of the late James Avery Buchanan and Betty Grace Buchanan. He was the owner of Forest City Electric, CECO Electric, and Alvin &amp; Danny Buchanan Electric for 52 years.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>Alvin was a faithful member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School member, and served on various church committees. He also served his community faithfully through many years of service to Chase Pee Wee Football, Harris-Shiloh Little League, Habitat for Humanity, and the Church of the Exceptional. He also participated in mission trips organized through Harris Baptist Church. He believed in helping others no matter the cost, and demonstrated that in his daily life.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shelby Jean Bumgardner, and his brother, Joe Earl Buchanan.&nbsp; </p><p>Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Becky Campbell Buchanan, his children, Lynne Huskey and husband Jerry of Forest City, Allen Buchanan and wife Teresa of Rutherfordton, Chris Buchanan and wife Lisa of Forest City, Mark Buchanan and wife Debbie of Forest City, Danny Buchanan and wife Lisa of Forest City, Betsy Cuthbertson and husband Randall of Forest City, his&nbsp; brother, Sam “Morris” Buchanan of Jacksonville, Florida, and his sister, Vivian Horne of Forest City.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>Grandchildren&nbsp; include Jeremy Huskey and wife Jennifer, Jeff Huskey and wife Marcia, David Buchanan, April Mayse and husband Wes, Nick Buchanan and wife Grace, Kyle Buchanan and wife Makenzie, Brittany Buchanan and husband Justin, Brandi Boiter and husband Justin, Josh Buchanan and wife Katie, Haley Price and husband Spencer, Ashley Buchanan, Anna Buchanan, Chandler Casner and wife Marisa, Kai Casner, Neil Cuthbertson, Nikki Cuthbertson and husband Michael, and Ned Cuthbertson and wife Patti.&nbsp; </p><p>Great-grandchildren include Kinsley Huskey, Karsyn Huskey, Konnor Huskey, Kamden Huskey, Hudson Huskey, Olivia Garrison, Justyce Buchanan, Wesley Mayse, Cooper Mayse, Elliotte Mayse, Brynn Buchanan, Blaine Buchanan, Mason Smith, Joey Stamper, Cora Stamper, Isaiah Boiter, Eden Boiter, Noah Buchanan, Braxten Buchanan, Leola Price, Harland Price, and Tanner Scott.&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Ethan Gardner and Reverend Sidney Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
