Printes Wendell Evans

<p>Printes Wendell Evans, age 77, of Grovetown, Georgia passed away on December 27, 2023 at home following a brief illness. He was born in Byrdstown, Tennessee to the late Prentis and Emogene Evans. Wendell was the middle child of five siblings. He grew up in rural Tennessee exploring the countryside and spending time with siblings, cousins, and extended family. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Wendell enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17. After his enlistment obligation was complete, he returned to Tennessee to attend Tennessee Technological University. He joined ROTC and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Regular Army Commission. Wendell served 20 years on active duty, retiring from Ft. Gordon, GA. He settled in the Augusta area with his wife, Betty, and they raised two children. He later owned his own locksmith business in the Augusta area. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Wendell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Evans; his son, John Evans; his daughter and her husband, Heidi and David Pindell; his grandson, JP Pindell; his siblings, Barbara Holt, Gay Fitzgerald, Nan Fletcher, and Ralph Evans; and his nieces and nephews. </p><p>A memorial service will be held&nbsp;Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 AM&nbsp;at the Hicks Cemetery in Pall Mall, TN. Reception will follow at the Chanute Community Center. </p>
