Obituary

With sorrow, the family of Tammy Lynn Mary McDonald announces her passing on March 14, 2024 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Tammy was born on January 15, 1966 at the Port Arthur General Hospital, the daughter of Gary and Joyce (nee Tweedie) McDonald. She loved listening to music – especially the live music on Wednesdays at the Waterfront. She poured her creativity into her colouring, painting, or just doodling. Bowling was another favourite activity. Anytime her sister Kim invited her to a restaurant for a meal, or just out for a coffee, Tammy would happily join. Camp trips to Lake Shebandowan and watching hockey with her best friend James always brought so much joy to Tammy’s life.

After many years of health battles, she moved to the Glengary Group Home in 1991. She was well cared for, and the staff treated her like family. The staff and residents will miss Tammy’s smile, laughter, and beautiful blue eyes.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Kim Maradyn, Tracey Maradyn, Nicole (Henry) Dufrenne, and Michelle Maradyn; half-sisters Mary Ann and Linda McDonald of Edmonton; and many cousins from Thunder Bay to British Columbia.

She was predeceased by her father Gary McDonald in 1969, her mother Joyce Anne Stirrup in 2006, as well as James, her bestie at Glengary Group Home, in December 2023.

Special thanks to the staff at Glengary of Thunder Bay for looking after Tammy with her needs and health care. She was the ‘queen bee’ near the end of her life because she was the only female resident there with six males. She loved the spotlight!

A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held in August 2024.

In her memory, contributions are suggested to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society, as Tammy loved animals so much.
