Edward A. Borop, age 83, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Ed was born on March 2, 1941 in Princeton, IL to the late Otis P. and Edith K. (Trimmer) Borop. He married Patricia E. Wilkinson on August 13, 1967 in Chillicothe, IL.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Patricia; his children, Jeff (Dorie) Borop of Chillicothe, IL, Jim (Sarah) Borop of Peoria, IL, Jana (Brad) Daum of Chillicothe, IL and Janelle Borop of Peoria; his grandchildren, Ashley (Ben) Scribner, Madison (Wes) Moore, Austin M. (Allison) Borop, Micah (Ellen) Borop, Bailey Daum, Braden Daum, Emma Borop and Austin J. Borop and two great-grandchildren, Cora Borop and Sawyer Scribner. Also surviving are his brothers, Otis Borop of Bloomington, MN and Doug Borop of Machesney Park, IL; and his nieces and nephews.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Ed became a Diesel Mechanic for over 40 years, retiring from Federal Warehouse. After he retired, he enjoyed helping the kids with the Spring Planting at Three Sister’s Park. He was a very active member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, serving in the choir and hand bell choir. One year, Ed was asked and really enjoyed singing in the quartet for the Chillicothe Summer Theatre’s production of The Music Man. Family was important to Ed and he was very active in the children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to Chillicothe First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Three Sister’s Park Spring Planting Fund.
