Charles E. Premo Obituary

Charles E. Premo, 94, husband of the late Josephine (Dziodzio) Premo, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, after a brief illness.


Born in Meriden, CT on August 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Ernest Premo and Edna Wanat and graduated from St. Rose School and Wilcox Tech. He was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Meriden and East Hartford, retiring in June 1992 after 40 years of employment. Chick was a parishioner of St. Faustina Parish.


Chick joined the Army in 1948 and was discharged in 1952. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He loved serving his country and wore his Korean Veteran’s hat with pride.


He enjoyed woodworking and many of his neighbors from Colchester Commons and relatives have one or two of his beautiful birdhouses in their yard.


He is survived by his daughter, Deborah and her husband Robert Gawel whom he resided with; his son, Keith and his wife Laura Premo from Tomball, TX; four grandchildren, Keith Premo II (Haley) from Georgia, Lexi Patterson (Alonzo) from Texas, Matthew Gawel (Amy) from California and Becky Lessard (Vanessa) from Milford, CT; three great-grandchildren, Charlie and Greta Premo from Alabama and Parker Lessard from Milford, CT and one great-great-granddaughter Cassia (CJ) Premo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a special niece Linda Hodgson who visited with him frequently and shared a lobster or two together. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Landry and Blanche McGreal and his two brothers, Robert Premo and Ernest Premo.


Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit jferryfh.com.
