Joseph A. Pesce Obituary

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, April 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Joseph A. Pesce, Jr., who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. He was 85 years old. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.


Joseph was born in Revere on September 15, 1938. He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Anna (D’Ambrosio) Pesce. He had been a lifelong resident of Revere and attended Revere Public Schools.

Following high school, Joe worked at the Boston Ship Yard as a pipe fitter until he decided to pursue his passion to be a lobsterman. Joe began working as a commercial lobsterman, which was a career that would span over 65 years. His devoted son, David, joined in his passion for lobstering and worked alongside him for the last 30 years. They were the best partners.


He was a dedicated and hard-working man who devoted his life to providing for his family.

Joe was an avid football fan. He loved the New England Patriots and watching Sunday night football with family and friends. He was an amazing cook and specifically enjoyed cooking Italian food for holiday gatherings. Joe had a strong affection for cats and was always taking in abandoned cats and kittens. He adored his fur babies, Buster, Feebe, Bella, Kitty, Cali. Joe was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.


Joe was the beloved husband of Rita (Fredericks) Pesce with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Devoted father of Sherri Headley and her husband Robert B. Headley, John J. Pesce, and David F. Pesce and the brother of Charles Pesce. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
