<p>Paul “Happy” Frederick of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2024.</p><p><br></p><p>Happy was the son of the late Harriet &amp; Herbert Frederick and the dear friend of the late David “Shorty” Gilpatrick and his wife Debbie Hayes.</p><p><br></p><p>After graduating from Arlington High School, Happy worked as a laborer for the Town of Arlington, a job he loved and held until his retirement. Happy found joy in life, made many friends and took pride in his work. For many years he served as the “light man” and was responsible for turning on the lights at Arlington’s playing fields, collected tickets at Arlington High School and Arlington Catholic High School athletic events, and helped clean up after games. </p><p><br></p><p>The Christmas holidays were the happiest time of the year for him. He would proudly tell one &amp; all that he received a citation from the Town Manager naming him the official Arlington Santa Claus. Each year he took a vacation from his job to devote time to his Santa duties. Donned in his Santa gear and carrying a sack full of candy canes Happy traveled through town greeting everyone with a loud “Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas”. </p><p>Happy’s love for Arlington and its love for him will be present forever.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Happy’s life on Wednesday, April 3 from 4 to 7 pm at Keefe Funeral Home 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington, MA. Burial will be private.</p><p><br></p><p>The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Arlington High School Athletics, 869 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA 02474 Attn John Bowler.</p>

Paul “Happy” Frederick of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2024.


Happy was the son of the late Harriet & Herbert Frederick and the dear friend of the late David “Shorty” Gilpatrick and his wife Debbie Hayes.


After graduating from Arlington High School, Happy worked as a laborer for the Town of Arlington, a job he loved and held until his retirement.
