Kenna Boyer

Kenna Boyer passed away peacefully Friday, March 22, 2024 at the age of 93 in Reno, NV surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Kenneth and Emma Wait on July 12, 1930 in Sacramento, CA, but grew up on her parent’s ranch in Elverta, CA. After graduating, she worked one summer at Minnie’s Spudnut Shop in Falllon, NV where she met her husband, Lowell. They were married in 1950 and moved to the Reno area where she raised five children. Kenna loved her family and always made sure they were taken care of. She was a great cook and listener. She enjoyed people and would strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a busy lady working as a secretary for the University of NV-Reno for 20 years while raising her family. Kenna enjoyed traveling and took a trip to Europe with her cousins. She enjoyed traveling across the USA, stopping at historical places. She enjoyed adventure and was part of several jeeping trips into the Rubicon. Her beverage of choice was wine and she took many trips with her daughters to the wine country. Kenna enjoyed the country life watching the animals, any kinds of arts and crafts, camping with family and friends and discovering NV. She and Lowell were members of Lakes Crossing Muzzle Loaders group and she enjoyed many shoots and rendezvous with them long after Lowell’s passing in 1982. Kenna was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi, Rio Linda/Elverta Historical Society, and the Reno Singles.

Kenna was preceded in death by her husband Lowell (1982), son Dana (1990) and her parents. She is survived by her sons Bryan and Lynn (Rochelle) and daughters Nanette and Suzanne (Patrick), nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Her service will be held, Friday, March 29, 2024 at Mountain View Mortuary at 11:00 with a reception following. Kenna respected all those that served so in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Veteran’s House or your favorite Veteran’s group.
