Obituary
Felix Joseph Plourde, 96, of Bellefonte, formerly of Cameron, West Virginia, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Born on October 7, 1927, in Auburn, Maine, he was the son of the late Alfred and Olivine (Delpi) Plourde. On January 30, 1954, he married the love of his life, Myrtle “Marlene” (Thompson) Plourde, who preceded him in death on January 28, 2007, after sharing nearly 53 years of marriage together.
Felix proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He served from January 1946 until he was honorably discharged in March 1947. During his time in the service, he was awarded the Army of Occupational Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning home, he worked as an electrical lineman at IBEW for 43 years until his retirement in 1993. He remained a member of the union for 70 years.
He is survived by his three children, Philip Plourde (Carole) of St. George, Vermont, Alan Plourde of Elgin, South Carolina, and James Plourde (Carrie) of Bellefonte, and three grandchildren, Conner and Owen Plourde, both of Bellefonte, and Sarah Clarkson of Elgin, South Carolina. Also surviving are two sisters, Yvonne Howard and Jeanette Plourde, both of Dover, New Hampshire.
In addition to his wife, Marlene, and parents, Alfred and Olivine, he was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred “Eddie” Plourde and Frederick Plourde, and three sisters, Lena Ouellette, Theresa Gagne, and Rita Smith.
Felix enjoyed activities that allowed him to spend time outside. He especially enjoyed doing yard work, and took great pride in the presentation of his home. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren – whether he was just enjoying their company or cheering them on in their activities, watching them grow into young adults brought him the most joy.
There will be no funeral services held at the request of Felix. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
